Title of the day :
Pride... the road towards destruction..Pride... one of the sins which God hated the most (Proverbs 8:13)
Pride... that will lead to violence ultimately (Psalm 73:6)
Pride... that give birth to quarrels (Proverbs 11:2)
Pride... never lead to a good ending (2 Chronicles 26:16)
It is pride that lead to the fight which happen between one of my youth and his father in my work place today.. The pride which give birth to violence, quarrels, unhappeness, stubborness, abuse, anger inside the father. A father blaming, cursing his son for hitting him when in the first place is him who started the pushing and kicking and insultings. The best part is, the father deny his wrong doing and claim that it only right for a father to beat his son not the other way round!! and this is not the first time this abuse happens...
Poor mother helplessly has too deal with both sides, trying to push the husband away while pleading us not to interfere which make his barking even louder... Both me and my supervisor stop the fight and wanting to claim down the father but instead becoming his victim of his verbal abuse... I thank God my anger was not with me otherwise I cant imagin what I will do to react back...
Then I remember today's daily bread devotion title "Overcoming Evil with Good" Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good". Luke 9:51-56 tells us when the town of samaritan village does not welcome Jesus as he need to passby there to Jerusalem, two of Jesus disciples, John and James asked Jesus if he need them to cast fire from heaven down to destory the village. But Jesus turned and rebuked them saying "you do not know what kind of spirit you are of. For the son of Man did not come to destory men's lives. but to save them."
Hmmm... what do the bible mean by overcoming evil with good? u mean like what happen today when the father threaten and insult us we must overcome it with good? Oh men... who can take it?? But... there is a reason behind this... I guess God is trying to tell us, if we overcome evil with evil example insult overcoming insult, it is a lose-lose situation for both party cause it might end up in violence But if we overcome evil with good instead example claimness, peace vs insult, it is a win-lose situation! we win of course....
Thank God, manage to help the youth to stay at his friends home temporality as the father threaten to harm him if he goes back. Will most likely put the youth in a shelter home for a time begin...
Heavenly father, I thank you that everything is in order so far, I thank you for your protection over myself and also the caseworker for this youth just now as we went to talk to his parents. I wana ask God may u intervene into this youth's life. There is so much anger in his family especially in both the youth and the father.. I pray for your spirit of peace to fill the youth and also the father, I pray that during this few days of staying outside of home.. Lord may u speak to this youth and grain him peace in his heart, I pray that this few days the youth will be able to do a reflection about what is happening and I pray lord you will guide him..
