Title of the day =
A Worker in the Harvest Fields...Today is my 3rd day at work and I am thankful for what God had plan for me. I got to know a group of very nice, funny, friendly colleagues and also a fellow Sisters / Brothers in Christ! I want to thank God for Ms Woo, the centre manager of Care Corner Family Service Centre (Admiralty), for giving me a chance to take up this Job. I am also thankful for my direct supervisor, Wintson, a devoted child of God, whom had been guiding and helping me so far. Thank you guys!! =D
My Job will be supporting and assisting Wintson (Social Worker), dealing with youth programmes, particularly GP (Guidance Programme). GP is for those youths, 16 yrs and below, whom had committed Crime. It is like a "second" chances given to them by the police. The youths will have to go through a period of 6 months of GP which include, counselling for both parents and youths, involving in group work, community service, camps, outdoor activities etc. Upon completion of 6 month GP, if their performance is good and did not commit any crimes, they will only be given a warning by the police. In the future, I may be involve in other similiar youth out reach programmes which is under going the process of approval.
Knowing the nature of my Job, it reminds me of Matthew 9:37-38 "Then he (Jesus) say to the disciples, "The Harvest is pentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field!" The number of youths whom committed are increasing, and personally, I hv meet a few whom came with their parents for the GP Introduction... all I see in their face was "Lost" "without direction" just like a sheeps without a shephard... and mostly are Malays... I pray that God will have mercy upon them..
Interestingly, this few days have heard my colleagues or pastor sharing about real life story of those Malays Christians, how they come to know Jesus and how they are prosecuted by their familys and friends once they become a Christian. Valerie, one of my colleague whom is a counselor at my centre, share how she was lead by the holy spirit to pray for a muslim malay girl whom are hopping to meet up her real mother. A few weeks later, the girl send an email saying that the prayer had come true! She finally got to meet up her mother! Wao... isnt God amazing or what huh... I just pray that God will not only use me to help the youths, but also to lead them to Christ. Our Comforter and Counselor..
Heavenly Father, I give thanks for opening up opportiunity that allow me to help and serve those whom had fallen off the track along their way.. I pray that Lord you will be very real in my life.. so that I can show the youths, it is not by my strength and Love that I have help them, but is from you... your Love and Comfort... I pray that I will be more bold and courageous.. and also not feeling ashamed or shy to share the gospel with others... I pray for strength and wisdom from you.. and also a blessing to those youths that I am going to meet in the future, that I will be able to make a different in their lifes.. I pray and give thanks in Jesus Name.. Amen..
